Specialist recruitment · Fleet Electrification Technology & Data

The Technology & Data Talent Behind Electric Fleets

We are a dedicated recruitment partner for fleet electrification — the engineering, data, product and leadership people who build the fleet management, smart charging and telematics software, and turn the data it produces into decisions. Xist4 runs specialist desks by sector, and this is the fleet desk.

Why Specialists

Most People Who Can Do This Work Have Never Done It in Fleet

The hard problems in fleet electrification are software problems. Plug sixty vans in at six o'clock and you trip the site's grid connection, so something has to stagger the charging overnight and still have every vehicle full by the first run. Something has to work out whether a van makes its route on today's charge, pull the data off the vehicles and the chargers, and prove the fleet is cheaper to run than diesel. The people who build that are strong backend, data and ML engineers — and almost none have "fleet electrification" on their CV, because the work is barely ten years old. We hire for the ones who can do it, and we know how to tell them apart.

What We Cover

Data, Software, Engineering & Leadership for Fleet Electrification

We recruit the disciplines we know best, applied to fleet electrification — from the engineers building the software up to the analytics, product and leadership layer.

Fleet & Charging Software

Backend, full-stack and platform engineers building the depot smart-charging, charge-scheduling and fleet-management software — the systems that stagger overnight charging within a site's power limit and keep every vehicle ready for its first run.

Data Science, AI & ML

Data scientists and ML engineers building the range and energy-use prediction, route and charge optimisation and demand forecasting that keep vehicles moving and charging bills down.

Data Engineering & Architecture

Data engineers and architects building the pipelines that pull telemetry off the vehicles and the chargers — much of it arriving over OCPP — and land it somewhere the models and dashboards can actually use, reliably and at scale.

Cloud, DevOps & Platform Ops

Platform, cloud, DevOps and SRE engineers — and the data and ML ops people — who keep connected-fleet and charging platforms up around the clock. A charger that fails quietly overnight is a vehicle that misses its route.

BI, Insights & Cyber Security

BI and insights specialists who turn charging, energy and utilisation data into the numbers a fleet manager acts on — cost per mile, charger uptime, where the energy goes — and security engineers who protect connected-vehicle and charging platforms.

Product, Programme & Technology Leadership

Technical product and programme managers, plus Heads of Engineering and Data, CTOs, CDOs and CISOs who set the roadmap and build the teams behind fleet and charging products.

Typical Roles

The People We Place

We recruit using the titles the market actually uses. The specialism comes from the company and the product, not a bolt-on label.

  • Backend Engineer (Python / Node)
  • Full-Stack Engineer
  • Data Scientist — Smart Charging
  • EV Fleet / Charging Analyst
  • Data Engineer
  • Machine Learning Engineer
  • Platform / Cloud / DevOps / SRE
  • Mobile Engineer (driver apps)
  • BI & Insights Analyst
  • Security Engineer (connected platforms)
  • Product / Programme Manager
  • Engineering / Data Lead, CTO / CDO / CISO
  • Day-to-day the market uses generic discipline titles; the fleet-electrification specialism comes from the company and the product, not the job title, and we map your brief to the right one. What we do not touch: vehicle, powertrain and charger hardware, electrical, grid and mechanical engineering, installation, commissioning and field service, and sales, business development and marketing. This desk is the data, software, engineering and leadership layer of fleet electrification.
What People Say

Trusted by Clients and Candidates

They understood why depot load management was the hard part, not just "EV software". The shortlist was small, relevant and fast.

VP Engineering

Honest, technical conversations from the first call. They put me forward for roles that actually fit, not just whatever was open.

Placed as Senior Backend Engineer, fleet platform

We built our first data team for the charging product with their help. They knew which engineers could handle the telemetry side and which only looked like they could.

Ready to Hire?

Let's Build Your Fleet Electrification Team

Whether you need to fill a hard fleet electrification software, data or engineering vacancy, or want to sharpen your brief before going to market, we can help.

For Clients

Hire the Fleet Electrification Talent Others Cannot Reach

We work with fleet operators, charging and energy software firms, telematics providers and electrification platforms to fill the data, software, engineering and leadership roles that decide whether a product ships.

Why Clients Work With Us

Fleet electrification is new, and the engineering behind it is genuinely hard — depot charging that has to live within a fixed grid connection, energy prediction across real duty cycles, telemetry off chargers and vehicles that has to reconcile and balance. A generalist agency cannot tell who has solved problems like these from who can only talk about them. We can, because the data and software is all we do, and this desk is pointed at fleet.

A Deep UK Network

Years building relationships with data, software and engineering specialists across the UK means we reach the people who can do this work quickly — including the many who have never carried a "fleet electrification" label but will be excellent at it. Our EU and US networks are smaller but growing.

Genuine Technical Screening

We know the difference between a charge point management system and a fleet management platform, why depot load management is the bottleneck, and what OCPP is for. That is enough to screen for real depth, so you only meet people who can do the work.

One Focused Desk

No competing briefs and no noise. Every conversation on this desk is a fleet conversation, which keeps our knowledge and shortlist current.

Process That Holds

A structured search with consistent communication and a live feedback loop, so strong candidates stay engaged and offers do not fall apart.

Build Your Career in Fleet Electrification

If you build software, models or data platforms — or lead the teams that do — in fleet electrification, charging or telematics, we will help you find the right move, not just the next one. And if you have never worked in fleet but can do the work, we want to hear from you too.

Roles We Recruit

We work across the fleet electrification software, data and engineering stack, from hands-on specialists to technical leadership. Typical roles include:

  • Backend & Full-Stack Engineer
  • Data Scientist — Smart Charging
  • EV Fleet / Charging Analyst
  • Data Engineer & Data Architect
  • Machine Learning & Mobile Engineer
  • Platform, Cloud, DevOps & SRE
  • BI & Insights Analyst, Security Engineer
  • Product / Programme Manager, Engineering / Data Lead, CTO/CDO/CISO

What to Expect From Us

Honest conversations, genuine technical understanding and no spray-and-pray. We only put you forward for roles that fit your skills and what you actually want next, and we keep you informed at every stage.

Our Approach

Purposeful Hiring, Done Properly

A clear, structured fleet electrification search that keeps in-demand specialists engaged and clients informed from brief to offer.

01

Understand

We learn your platform, your depots and your duty cycles before we approach a single candidate.

02

Map & Engage

We tap a deep network of data, software and engineering specialists — not job boards — and engage the people who genuinely fit, including strong candidates new to the domain.

03

Assess

We screen for real depth, so you only meet specialists who can do the work, not just describe it.

04

Land

We manage offer, notice and onboarding so your hire fits and stays from day one.

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

Diagnostic

Xist4’s Hiring Campaign Diagnostic

Before a role goes live, or after it has stalled, find out whether your hiring campaign is actually set up to work.

It is a standalone product. You are not buying a search. You are buying the work a good agency does before it runs one — your brief, your salary, your advert, your sourcing and your candidate journey, taken apart and handed back to you as a report you can act on yourself. Everything an agency does to get a role filled, without handing the role to one. Built on 26 years of specialist recruitment.

People use it for two reasons. The first is before a role goes live, to find the problems while they are still cheap to fix. The second is when a campaign is already running and not working — four weeks in, nothing decent through the door, and no clear reason why. At that point you have something genuinely useful: live data. Real response rates, real drop-off, real feedback. More often than not, that data makes the problem easier to pin down.

£1,500
Fixed fee · Full two-day engagement

For context: a campaign that runs eight to twelve weeks and turns up nobody worth hiring rarely costs less than £15,000 in management time, advertising and lost productivity — before you count the role sitting empty. The Diagnostic is £1,500, and there is no obligation to use Xist4 for the search itself.

What you get

The Diagnostic Report

Ten areas that decide whether a campaign works, each rated red, amber or green, with market data and specific fixes. No vague feedback. You see what to fix, what to leave alone, and what is quietly costing you the hire.

A Four-Week Posting Plan

Where and how to advertise the role, in what order, and how to keep it visible past day one instead of peaking on the first morning and fading.

Strategic Recommendations

Specific actions for your role and your market that you can act on this week. Built around the job in front of you, not lifted from a checklist.

A Playback Call

We walk you through the findings, answer your questions and agree next steps, so you leave with a plan rather than a document to file.

Request the details

Tell us the role and where the campaign is up to. We will send the full Diagnostic breakdown and answer any questions — no obligation to use Xist4 for the search.

About

Specialists in Fleet Electrification Recruitment

We are a focused recruitment partner for fleet electrification, connecting employers with the data, software, engineering and leadership talent that makes electric fleets work.

Who We Are

This is Xist4's dedicated fleet electrification desk — fleet management, smart charging and telematics software, and the data and engineering behind them. It is a deliberately narrow practice, and that focus is what lets us understand the technology, know the market, and reach specialists a generalist agency cannot.

What We Believe

Good hiring is not about filling a seat. It is about finding someone who raises the bar, fits the team and stays. We take a human, structured approach to every search and treat candidates and clients with the same honesty.

Focused

Fleet electrification is all this desk recruits in, through a data, software, engineering and leadership lens.

Technical

Grid limits, charge windows, route energy, charger uptime — we know the problems well enough to screen for engineers who can actually solve them.

Human

Clear communication, fair process and no spray-and-pray. People first, always.

Connected

A deep UK network of data, software and engineering specialists, built over years rather than bought from a database. Our EU and US networks are smaller but growing, as we build into both.
